Advertisement"It felt like it was more authentic," Andrea Brimmer, chief marketing and PR officer of Ally Financial, parent of Ally Bank, said of the decision to use the reality format. In another recent example, H&R Block in February dropped "Responsibility Island," a limited series reality spoof based on the popular British reality dating show "Too Hot to Handle." "It is the perfect escape; reality TV is a genre that just delights them." Other brands like Neutrogena have lately co-opted the reality TV format for social media series. Advertisement"To do a purely entertainment reality series is something you don't see every day," said Zoe Fairbourn, head of strategic partnerships and branded entertainment at Hello Sunshine.

The decision comes just days before a trial on Trump's eligibility for the ballot is expected to begin. In a 24-page ruling, Colorado District Judge Sarah Wallace pushed back on Trump's argument that Congress, not courts, should handle questions related to his ballot eligibility. She also sided against Trump's claim that state election officials lack the power to enforce Section 3 of the 14th Amendment. Wallace's ruling Wednesday comes after Chief U.S. District Judge Philip A. Brimmer denied Trump's request to move the Colorado ballot case to federal court. In a four-page order, Brimmer sent the lawsuit back to the same state court in Denver County where it was filed on behalf of the group of voters.

There was a time when companies doing big deals could turn to only a handful of firms for advice. But the booming demand for counsel on acquisitions, activist investors and corporate crises has widened that circle and, increasingly, led to the creation of new firms. The latest example is Collected Strategies, which is being started by several executives at the communications firm Joele Frank, Wilkinson Brimmer Katcher, along with Ed Hammond, a longtime mergers-and-acquisitions reporter for Bloomberg. “Communications advice needs to as well.”The firm is starting in a period of elevated scrutiny of Wall Street’s activities. While overall deal making has been down, last year was the busiest in four years for activist investors, who take stakes in companies and demand change.

“If this is what economics is teaching, who wants to be part of that?”Myers is an interesting person. Myers told me about the economists, both Black and white, who lent a hand to him and others early on. One was his father, Samuel L. Myers, a path breaker who earned a doctorate in economics from Harvard in 1949. “I’m happy and content that I’m unapologetically Black,” he said. He added: “The summer program is producing deep thinkers.”
